The Board Report Reports 13 Nov 2010
RSG Consulting has constructed a ground-breaking study into boardroom behaviour for its client, Eversheds.
Post the credit crisis, there has been a flurry of debate on both sides of the Atlantic into whether company boards are fulfilling their roles and a re-examination as to what these roles really should be. The Eversheds report seeks to explore the connections between Board composition and share price performance before, during and after the credit crisis to see whether the way in which a Board is constructed has any effect on company success. To achieve this aim, the RSG team examined the share price performance of the top 250 global companies by market cap and then analysed their boards over the three time points previously mentioned. The backgrounds of nearly 4000 individual directors were researched.
In addition, RSG researchers and Eversheds partners conducted interviews with 50 individual company directors to investigate their views as to the role boards should play and how to achieve effective behaviour in the boardroom.
